A Walk in the Park............

………the water park, that is.  We have been in Oradea this week (August 13-18) with the girls from the Group Home.  The goal: Baile Felix water park!  Today, Wednesday, I went with them.  Since I hadn’t planned on doing any swimming in Romania, I didn’t bring a swimsuit.  So my day today was sitting (in the sun) and watching.  I didn’t mind too much when we first arrived, as the temperature wasn’t too bad.  As the day wore on though, the sun warmed everything up, including me.

What was interesting about today was the swimsuits, or lack of.  Not that anyone was going without one, but MANY needed more cloth than what theirs provided.  Let’s just say that bikinis are the standard, for both men and women.  So what’s the problem?  Just about EVERYONE was wearing one!  As you well know, some people should NOT wear skimpy clothing….and believe me, there were plenty of those folks around.  I have figured out that Romanians are very secure in their bodies.  You would have to be for some of the folks to be wearing such apparel.  People of all types were wearing them……young folks, old folks, folks without a tan… fat folks, skinny folks, folks between the two…….hairy folks, sagging folks, even folks that jiggle too.  I saw bellies hanging over the bottoms, boobs falling out of tops; I saw string between the cheeks and lots of bulges.

The funny part was that I seemed to be the only one who really cared what anyone looked like.  No one giggled, pointed or whispered.  Everyone around was enjoying the water and sun.  And that, was the whole point of their day!
